Bachelor in Psychology

Bachelor in Psychology is one of 3 English-taught Psychology programmes at bachelor’s level in the register, offered by 3 institutions. 1 of them list an annual fee for students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland. The same programme title is offered at 2 institutions, so compare the content, campus and requirements before you choose.

Webster Vienna runs its BSc in Psychology as an in-person degree at its Vienna campus. The programme treats psychology as an umbrella discipline that draws on the human and social sciences, and it teaches students to observe psychological phenomena, build theories and test them with empirical methods.

What you study

The BSc is the most research-intensive psychology track at Webster Vienna. It is built around the biological, cognitive, personality and social contexts for understanding behaviour across the lifespan. Unlike the Bachelor of Arts tracks, the BSc includes a non-psychology supporting core with Human Biology and Human Genetics, so you look at the physiological factors behind behaviour and mental processes.

Two requirements carry the quantitative side: Advanced Statistics and the Senior Thesis. In the thesis you develop a research hypothesis from current psychological science, then collect, analyse, interpret and present data to address a complex question. The minor in Psychology, at 18 credit hours, is a separate option and cannot be taken by students majoring in psychology.

How the programme is organised

The degree is a Bachelor of Science, 240 ECTS, spread over four years and eight semesters. Teaching is in person in Vienna. The curriculum is structured for students aiming at research-intensive graduate study and technical career paths, with statistics and empirical work running through it rather than appearing only at the end.

Who it suits

This track is for students who want the empirical and data side of psychology, not only behavioural theory. It suits anyone planning to apply to competitive MA or PhD programmes in clinical or experimental psychology, or to move into research and analytics roles. It is a foundational degree: practising as a psychologist or counsellor needs a graduate degree plus national or regional licensing, so check entrance requirements for postgraduate programmes before you finish.

Admission, language and next steps

Teaching language is English. Applications go directly to Webster Vienna, not through a central portal. The programme page links to course details and admissions criteria, and the Admissions Office can be reached by phone, WhatsApp or Viber, or by email at admissions@webster.ac.at. As a private university, Webster sets its own tuition and fees, listed on its financial information pages.

Psychology can be seen as an umbrella discipline overarching all other disciplines. It is the study of the human mind and the behavior that it generates, as well as how humans behave across various subjects. Psychology students use approaches that range from the scientific to the philosophical, from the experimental to the theoretical. Through these methods students develop and apply problem-solving skills that will help them think analytically and communicate clearly and persuasively throughout their lives and careers.
